Public Workspace Can't Merge PR From Team Workspace

I’m currently facing an issue where I am unable to merge a pull request (PR) from a team workspace into a public workspace. Here are the details:

  • I am an admin in both the team workspace and the public workspace.
  • A colleague from the team workspace has submitted a PR to the public workspace I manage. However, I am unable to merge the PR because the source of the PR is the private team workspace.

It seems strange that as an admin in both workspaces, I am unable to view or merge the PR from the team workspace into the public workspace.

Please let me know if you need additional details about our platform. In the meantime, I have attached a screenshot of the errors I encounter when I try to click on the PR in the public workspace, which shows that I am unable to merge the PR from my teammate in the team workspace.

I hope the community can provide some feedback that will help me better understand this issue!

Happy to try and help you out here - Just to clarify, the changes and the PR were raised by a team member and the Collection was in a Private Workspace but you’re not part of that Private Workspace?

I just wanted to get the correct Workspace type as there are a few being mentioned here:

  • Team
  • Private (Not a Personal one)
  • Public

Yes, someone from a Team workspace raised the change and a PR to our Public workspace.
I have admin rights to both workspaces, but the other person only has rights to the Team workspace.

Sorry for the confusion! I mentioned private because the documentation describes a Team workspace as private. I didn’t mean to imply a Personal workspace.

That’s cool, some folks flip and change the Workspace types when describing thing but that sometimes confuses things as there are different access level on each one :upside_down_face:

I think I recreated what you mean though:

I have a logged in use that is the owner/admin of a Public Workspace. A PR has been submitted but because the source Collection is in a Workspace that I cannot access I see this:

It might not be a 100% like for like scenario but I believe it’s in the same ballpark.

Exactly! You executed a scenario that represents ours.

They could fork the collection from the Public workspace into the Team workspace, but when submitting a PR to the Public workspace from the Team workspace, it couldn’t be Merged, and there was nothing in the merge settings that would enable it.

I’m going to have a chat with the team and get some clarification around those scenarios.

I did reach out to the team and starting some conversations around this issue, I’ve just jumped in the thread again today to get some updates here. I will share those once I get them.
