So I’ve recently installed Postman 8.4.0 Client on Windows 10.0.17763 Build 17763 and I have no idea why but whenever I launch the client after 20-30 seconds it freezes both my mouse and headset. I have to unplug the devices and re-connect just for them to freeze again after 20-30 seconds!
I had this same thing start happening with a recent version of Postman in January 2024. None of the accepted solutions worked - clearing history, clearing cache, sign out / sign in, uninstall / reinstall.
In fact after doing a clean install and launching the program, it still happens even if I’ve never logged in. Definitely an unacknowledged bug.
Oddly it cranks my Windows “System” CPU process up to about 12% (visible in Task Manager) and it stays there, even if Postman CPU usage is 0%. My mouse will freeze for 20 or so seconds, then be OK for 20 seconds, repeatedly.
Long story short, I’m now using the Visual Studio Code extension instead of the Desktop app.
I have the same issue, but also repro it with GUI linux apps running in WSL. It is very specific apps, not all.
Jetbrains IDEs
VLC
But not Gimp or simple app like xcalc.
After some testing I found out that the GPU acceleration was causing my problems.
Once disabled, the system process didn’t increase its cpu usage and the freeze went away.
