After the latest update to Version 11.41.0, the option to open a test in a new tab is gone.
You used to be able to right click on a test and open it in a new tab. That option is now gone so you can’t easily open a second test to compare or it will open it in the same tab you are trying to compare it to unless you have made changes to that one and haven’t saved it yet.
This is so time consuming and frustrating.
Can you please bring back the option to open a new tab with a request.
Hey @qatest-paytrace
Welcome to the Postman Community!
Are you able to provide a short recording of this issue, please?
By “right click on a test” do you mean on a request?
Hi, thank you for the quick response!
Yes, if you have a single request already open and want to compare another, you can no longer right click on another request (whether in the same collection or different one) and open it in a new tab.
When I have time, I can create a recording to show this but it should be simple to reproduce. Thanks!
I think I know what you’re referring to now, I needed to find an older version to see.
Previously we had a different menu which showed a lot of different items and one of them was “Open in Tab”:
In the latest versions, we have a more streamlined contextual menu that shows items relevant to that element.
Although it doesn’t have a menu option, you can still do the same thing by double clicking on the Request in the Collection to open it in a new tab.
You can also set whether Postman opens requests and other sidebar items in new tabs. Select the settings icon
in the header and select Settings . Under User interface, select Always open sidebar items in new tab to turn this option on or off.
Thank you! Yes, the Settings → User interface → Always open sidebar items in new tab enabled works! The problem was when it was disabled and you clicked or double clicked on the request, it would open in the same tab of the request that was already open that you wanted to compare it to unless it had been modified.

It depends what state the tab is in at that point, it’s in the preview state (request name in italics) unless you do something with the request.
