How to move the request documentation back to right-most panel?

Postman moved the documentation tab to make it more discoverable.

It’s very annoying to constantly switch between tabs to document request/response fields and logic (because it includes a lot of copy-pasting, copy, switch tab, paste, switch tab, copy, switch tab, paste, etc). Are there any plans to make a position of request documentation configurable?

Hi Andrew!

I appreciate your feedback. At this point, I want to be transparent with you that we do not plan on making this configurability change. The primary problem we have observed, and want to address, is that a very small percentage of users documented requests at all, and as this is such a critical piece of building a reusable, high-quality API, we wanted to bring the documentation experience more front and center.

This being said, this feedback is good and helpful, and it sounds like we haven’t still cracked the workflow that you use and like in copy/paste and documenting multiple request workflows, so we’ll keep monitoring and listening to users like yourself to see if others raise this which would be even stronger signal that we may need to keep adjusting.

Hey Andrew, if it’s something you don’t mind sharing, could you tell me which elements in your requests require copying and pasting into the documentation?

Same issue here. I have details in Docs tab that I need to view at the same time as the Body tab. I used to be able to do that just fine when Docs was at the right side. Now it has been extra painful in my workflow

Parts of request bodies, response bodies, headers - basically everything you have in main tabs. Documentation tab as part of main tabs does make it harder to do for completely no reason. I have wide screen, I don’t need documentation tab to take all the space. Well, I guess I’ll just find old Postman version and prohibit it from updating.

I see. Well I document only what I’m obliged to document by work and I honestly hate writing docs - I’m not a tech writer. And this latest change makes me hate it even more. How ironic.

Pretty sure a lot of people would share this stance. And no, we won’t be documenting more because this tab moved somewhere. Oh well, like I said, I’ll just revert Postman version and block automatic updates.
