Does Postman automatically share/store collections/APIs server-side?

When I want to open a json file in Postman, I apparently need to register (I hope this is not a way forcing users to share data by disabling functionality else) . Are the collections I import somehow stored at the servers of Postman?

I am also concerned about privacy; can other users see (parts of) my colllections somehow? (i.e., automatically shared/visible to other users, teams or some in some public listing)

I do not want to share anything with Postman or its users. Is there a way to delete all info, local and non-local, after testing with Postman?

Hey @rmdeboer82

Welcome to the Postman Community! :postman:

Having a Postman Account to use those features is required, that’s been in place for about 18 months. More information on that can be found on the blog post. The data you create with your account is saved to the Postman Cloud and is synced so that you can use that on any other device or platform where you are logged in.

Nothing is made Public without you making Public, you would need to move through several stages and click through warnings along the way before that happens.

More granular information about where and how your data is stored can be found on either our website or within our Security and Trust portal:

There is also the option to use Postman in a fully offline and local state to build and send requests:

Thanks for your response. If i read it this way, i can only use the automatic import functionality by creating an account (and have to give up my privacy in the process - I can’t risk a Postman server being hacked and my data being leaked). So I’ll have to look for alternatives then.

I can’t find so quickly whether the data is encrypted with a/my private key to minimise impact of compromise.

Did you manage to look through the section on our website or our Trust portal for the information you’re searching for?

There are many common questions in our FAQs section:

The Trust portal also contain all of the regulatory compliance and standards reports that we are required to maintain due to the data we hold.

We wouldn’t recommend placing any hardcoded sensitive data into your Collections. That’s why we created the Postman Vault, your own locally encrypted data vault.
