I have been using a collection in the default “My Workspace” for the last few months, when I attempted to share the workspace with my team members, the workspace was removed from my personal one without warning, I assumed it would make a copy.
After the collection was moved, all of the collection variables had been wiped, I filled them back in, but every time I log out they get wiped again, they always used to save when in my personal workspace.
After I fill out the variables I attempt to save manually, but the button is greyed out saying no changes have been made, how do I get the variables to save?
It is quite tedious having to fill these out each time I log in.
Do you only place the variable data in the Current Value section? Those are session based variables and the data would be removed if you were to share, export or log out as it is only available to you during that session.
The data in the Initial Value is synced and would be visible when you log back in.
In terms of saving, you could enable the Autosave feature from the settings to do the manual saving part for you.
Yes, I was using that pop out, and I must have missed the part that said “Move”, I have enabled the autosave feature so hopefully that will resolve the issue.
I’ve experienced the exact same issue - I shared my collection, choosing the “move collection” option in the pop-up. It included a large list of variables that have now disappeared (I’ve checked both workspaces).
I’m not gonna complain too much as PostMan is an awesome service, but this will take me an hour or so to fish out all the api key and params I need to rebuild my list of variables.
I was just updating my last post - this was user error!
For anyone else with this issue: I found my variables by clicking on the collection / folder name in the new shared team workspace. From that view there are a few tabs, one of them is “variables”.
